Siemens selected   for Rhine-Ruhr Express EMU order
Rhine-Ruhr Transport Authority (VRR) announced on February 10 that it has selected Siemens as preferred bidder for a contract to supply 82 EMUs for the Rhine-Ruhr Express (RRX) network and maintain the fleet for 30 years. Full Article

Chinese rail equipment   orders up 22.6% in 2014
THE total value of rail equipment exported from China surged by 22.6% to Yuan 26.77bn ($US 4.38bn) last year, according to statistics released last week by the General Administration of Customs (GAC). Full Article
Serco and CAF sign   Caledonian Sleeper contract
CAF announced on February 10 that it has concluded a £150m contract with Serco Caledonian Sleepers to supply 75 coaches of five different types for use on overnight services from London to Fort William, Inverness, and Aberdeen. Full Article

Spain to open 800km   of high-speed lines this year
Spain's infrastructure manager Adif will open new sections of high-speed line totalling 798km this year, extending the current passenger-dedicated network with lines radiating from Madrid towards the periphery of the Iberian Peninsula. Full Article
Jerusalem A1 Link track   contract signed
The A1 high-speed rail link between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem moved a step forward on February 5, with the announcement that Electra Bogl JV group has been awarded the Shekels 755m ($US 195m) contract to design, build, and maintain the track and systems of the A1's tunnels and bridges. Full Article
