Poll: State troopers oppose bigger trucks
A Coalition Against Bigger Trucks (CABT)-commissioned poll says that nearly 80% of Americans oppose longer and heavier semitrailer trucks. The National Troopers Coalition (NTC), an advocacy group for state troopers that patrol the nation’s Interstate Highway system, supports the poll’s results. Full Article

Shortline tax credit legislation enters House
A bipartisan trio of U.S. House representatives has introduced H.R. 721, the Short Line Railroad Rehabilitation and Investment Act of 2015. This legislation would extend the Section 45G shortline track maintenance tax credit that expired at the end of 2014. Full Article

Canadian Pacific braces for TCRC strike
The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Running Trades (TCRC-RT), the union representing more than 3,000 active Canadian Pacific locomotive engineers and conductors at CP, has provided official notice of its intent to strike the railroad in the event there is not a negotiated settlement on contract talks that have been ongoing for more than one year.
